Food / fediverse idea

Should the fediverse have a bakeoff one day? Like we get a recipe of easy and cheap to come by bits and bake the same thing on the same day and see how we did? Would be fun! I'm terrible at baking but it would be a wholesome shared experience

@Shrigglepuss this is a lovely idea. Like a simple chocolate cake or lemon drizzle. Fedi Bake-off 2020!

@GwenfarsGarden I'm so excited to see what variety will come from our different levels of skill and techniques! And to know we'll be eating the same thing on the same day like a shared dessert gives me the fuzzies

@Shrigglepuss I have a great gluten free recipe for Victoria Sponge using potatoes as a key ingredient. I bet people have lots of different versions of the same thing. It would be amazing to see and share

@GwenfarsGarden whattt??? Victoria sponge is one of my favs I'm intrigued by this potato spin on it

Food / fediverse idea

@Shrigglepuss I'll try and remember tomorrow to take a photo of the recipe for you. It's in a book where every recipe is based on using a vegetable in it. I made the most amazing chocolate cake with pumpkin from it. And courgette & lavender cupcakes.

Food / fediverse idea

@GwenfarsGarden pumpkin and chocolate sounds delicious never heard of that before either!

Food / fediverse idea

@Shrigglepuss here it is. Let me know if it's not clear enough.

Btw: the woman who writes the book has a tendency towards ditzyness, so ignore her 'introduction'. The recipes themselves are good!

Food / fediverse idea

@GwenfarsGarden I am *so* dubious of this, I'd have to experience it to believe it

Food / fediverse idea

@Shrigglepuss I get that! But do give it a try and let me know what you think :)

The potato adds moisture to counteract the dryness of the rice flour.

Food / fediverse idea

@GwenfarsGarden does it still taste spongy like a regular sponge cake?

Food / fediverse idea

@Shrigglepuss I think so. I say 'think', because it's years* since I've made it, so don't recall anything other than I liked it.

*I kinda stopped baking a few years ago coz health
