My basil plant is flowering!

I have approximately 9000 other basil plants growing currently that i can eat, so I'm going to let it flower and hopefully collect some seeds.

@natrixnatrix You know what you get when you let Basil go to seed?
Volunteer Basil, everywhere.

Not sayin it's a bad thing, all of my current Basil comes from those volunteers. But if Basil wasn't so useful, it would be a super weed. 🤔

@GwenfarsGarden @natrixnatrix It's crazy, getting things to grow here in Arizona can be challenging. But in the case of Basil, I have to aggresively cut it back to keep it from choking out the rest of the garden.

@shatteredgears @natrixnatrix it's always the way. I guess there is only so much pesto one can eat!

@GwenfarsGarden @natrixnatrix True, but I do love pesto, and having large amounts of fresh basil means I get to try making different kinds. Pesto di Noce is my fave (walnut).

@GwenfarsGarden @natrixnatrix

Pesto di Noce

6oz packed basil (1-1/2 cup)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/3 cup toasted walnuts
1oz finely grated pecorino
1oz finely grated parmesan
2 sun-dried tomatoes in oil, chopped
2 cloves garlic
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Process basil, oil, walnuts, pecorino, parmesan, tomatoes, and garlic in a food processor until finely chopped.
Season with salt and pepper.
